OSCon 2005 Day 1 Bedtime

Was an interesting evening. Ended up swining in to the blogger bof and discussed a number of issues related to blogging and the blogging community. While there, met Casey West, pg user and slony fan, who was accidentally volunteered to create a planet oscon web site to aggregate oscon related blogs; I’ll be on the look out for that tommorrow. After that went to dinner at an excellent ethiopian place, heard a funny tidbit about an Oracle user at the perl trainers bof who was looking at swapping to my$ql, which drew some whacks with the clue stick from a certaain attendee. Also if roumer has it correctly, the guy doing the [http://conferences.oreillynet.com/cs/os2005/view/e_sess/6609 backula] talk will be running postgresql as a data store, so thats a bonus. On the way back to the hotel, I ran into Josh Berkus, who said he needed to get some work done at the pub. Figured I could probably help him, so we worked down a few pints and talked about postgresql. Hopefully I run into some more of the [http://www.bizgres.com bizgres] folks at the conference [[image /xzilla/templates/default/img/emoticons/smile.png alt=”:-)” style=”display: inline; vertical-align: bottom;” class=”emoticon” /]] Luckily we wern’t more than about 20 steps from the hotel, these late hours are not florida bed time approved.
