Wow. I went and saw Trio! last night… it was just a mind blowing experience. Trio! is a group comprised of [ Stanley Clarke] on [ Ba][ ss], [ Bela Fleck] on [ banjo], and [ Jean-Luc Ponty] on [ violin]; three guys who are arguably the best players of their respective instruments of all time. I came into it mainly from the Bela Fleck angle, being a long time fan of his [ earlier] [ bluegrass] music and the work he has done with the [ Flecktones], but certainly with much respect for Clarke and Ponty. Let me tell you, seeing these guys perform live is simply amazing. They all do a solo during the set, so you can really see them play both individual and within the group. Clarke and Ponty certainly can hold there own (I foresee myself digging around a bit for more of their work) but seeing them all work together…. wow. Sadly, there are only [ three dates left] on the tour, so if you have not seen them yet, chances are you might not get to at all.
