PostgreSQL Summit Schuedule Conflicts

I’ve had a chance to look over the [http://conference.postgresql.org/Program schedule for the PostgreSQL summit]. There are a lot of good talks which makes it very hard to figure out exactly what I’ll be attending. I think that the only thing I am certain I will be attending is Bruce’s 10 years of PostgreSQL talk, which, being a keynote has no conflicts. If I were going to create my dream lineup of talks, it would probably include the bizgres talk, plpgsql, the lightening talks, the performance challenge round-table, the smp talk, the advocacy talk, tsearch2 and slony, and the web team meeting. There are others that I would like to swing into as well, but those are probably tops on my list (and you’ll notice a lot of conflicts in that list). Actually one thing I couldn’t figure out is if there were suppose to be 2 different “tracks”, perhaps one for core hackers and one for dba admin types, or if there was some other motivation behind how the line ups were drawn out. The reason is that I notice that they scheduled parallel talks within the same category up against each other like the “intro to core hacking” which is up against the “multi-threaded postgresql” talk. This seems a little counter-intuitive to me; I would think they should swap that talk with something like the query by example talk on Sunday. Josh, if you want me to re-arrange the schedule, just let me know. I probably can’t skip out on the Global Advocacy and Fundraising talk which conflicts with the runner-up match on Saturday, but I’m probably ok with that (teams never seem to be very excited to play in that match), but BOTH the Slony talk and the tsearch2 talk start at 2PM on Sunday, which is also the start of the championship game. Maybe that’s the answer… since I really want to go to both of those talks and can’t, I should go to niether of them and instead sneak off to a local pub and watch futbol. Decisions, decisions…
