OSCon 2005 Day 1 Morning
Morning session was Introduction to Ruby, by Dave Thomas of Pragmatic Programmers (not the guy from Wendys). Was a nice introduction to the language, certainly nothing that made me want to run away screaming. Ran in to David Wheeler, who ensured me that he was not going to rewrite Bricolage in Ruby, however he does think getting Ruby support into Bric would be cool (like how it currently supports PHP code). I don’t suspect we’ll rewrite phpPgAdmin either, still I could see myself working on a ruby project if I found one I felt like working with. As a side note, the presentation mentioned both PostgreSQL and my$ql in seperate examples, very pc [[image /xzilla/templates/default/img/emoticons/smile.png alt=”:-)” style=”display: inline; vertical-align: bottom;” class=”emoticon” /]]
Kudos go to the bed and breakfast I am staying at for an excellent breakfast. Harrangs to convention center staff for giving out free coffee but no free water or juice…
