Trio!

Wow. I went and saw Trio! last night… it was just a mind blowing experience. Trio! is a group comprised of [http://stanleyclarke.com Stanley Clarke] on [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_bass Ba][http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_bass ss], [http://www.belafleck.com/ Bela Fleck] on [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banjo banjo], and [http://ponty.com/ Jean-Luc Ponty] on [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Violin violin]; three guys who are arguably the best players of their respective instruments of all time. I came into it mainly from the Bela Fleck angle, being a long time fan of his [http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000006EJJ/qid=1129900994/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-5419828-9721539?v=glance&s=music&n=507846 earlier] [http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00000JC6D/ref=pd_sim_music_4/104-5419828-9721539?v=glance&s=music&n=507846 bluegrass] music and the work he has done with the [http://www.flecktones.com/ Flecktones], but certainly with much respect for Clarke and Ponty. Let me tell you, seeing these guys perform live is simply amazing. They all do a solo during the set, so you can really see them play both individual and within the group. Clarke and Ponty certainly can hold there own (I foresee myself digging around a bit for more of their work) but seeing them all work together…. wow. Sadly, there are only [http://www.stanleyclarke.com/trio_dates.htm three dates left] on the tour, so if you have not seen them yet, chances are you might not get to at all.
