Etsy.com Added to PostgreSQL Users Page

One of the up and coming “Web 2.0” e-commerce sites, [http://www.etsy.com Etsy.com] has seen nice write-up’s in a number of places including the Wall Street Journal, Wired, the New York Post. The basic idea of the site is to provide a market place for buyers and sellers of hand-made crafts, but they offer a really nice layout and some novel ways to search on items which put them at the top of thier market. The basic technology behind the site is a mixture of PHP and PostgreSQL; when asked about PostgreSQL they had this to say:
Etsy is the sum total of its data, so when it came to choosing where to store our critical information there was only one sound choice. PostgreSQL’s strong emphasis on quality, stability, and data integrity contribute to making it the premier open source database.
If you would like to learn more about them, feel free to check out the [http://blog.etsy.com/?page_id=44 press section] or the [http://www.etsy.com/faq.php FAQ] on thier site. There is also a nice podcast with two of the founders available from the folks at [http://www.twit.tv/itn31 Inside The Net].
